The M is for Motivation

Well I had a good weekend. Friday I hung out with Dan and we enjoyed some Chinese food and Unbreakable. That was a solid movie and it featured two of my favorite actors, Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson. You can't go wrong with that combination in my book (see also: Pulp Fiction, Die Hard With a Vengeance).

Saturday was supposed to be the day where I got motivated and got some stuff done, but of course that didn't happen! Instead I was a total bum and just slacked off all day, frequently checking baseball web sites for any news on the Sammy Sosa situation. The aforementioned Dan was supposed to come over that night to hang out with Chad and me but the wife came home so nothing was done. I ended up watching the Bulls game and playing Resident Evil 4 for like 3 hours. That game is flat-out awesome, although I do miss the series staples, zombies and Umbrella. The gameplay definitely makes up for that, however.

On Sunday, while I did wake up late (i.e., after 12 noon) I was also very motivated and got a lot done. After going grocery shopping I immediately began to wash the dishes while watching Shaun of the Dead (which is a great movie by the way). Now, I have to tell you, we had a big ol' pile of stinking dishes just festering in the kitchen for a long time, so it was quite a job but it had to be done. Once I finished with the dishes, took out the garbage, and cleaned up a little around the kitchen, I felt like a million bucks. Now I no longer get a disgusted feeling when I walk into that room. (Well, except when I get near the garbage disposal because STAR still hasn't fixed that and it's starting to smell... yuck!)

At some point during the night I talked at length with my buddy Mike (from Schaumburg) about a prospective new job he might get at a company in Buffalo Grove called ASAP Software. It sounds like an impressive company and a slick place to work. I think he would do a fine job there and I might give that place a look once I get into job hunt mode. Speaking of which, I updated my resume last night and sent it to my sister (who works in human resources) for perusal. The NIU job fair is next week and I am not looking forward to piling the search for employment on top of school and work, but it has to be done.

Well I'd better wrap this off. I have a lot to accomplish today. Thankfully my good pal Jack Bauer is stopping by for a visit tonight, and he might be bringing along an old acquaintence from work. :-)
